Abstract: 

Visually impaired students who are taking courses of mathematics usually have problems to access the scientific documents during their study. There is the lack of resources in suitable digital format. The main aim of @Science project is to allow wider access to scientific resourses to all people regardless disabilities. The project is establishing the international network that enables following:

  • sharing of accesible digital materials;
  • sharing of good practices and tools for visually impaired students and their teachers to approach scientific formulas and technical drawings;
  • communication of individuals and institutions;
  • exchange of experience and strategies.

    • Any institution, university, library, support centre or individual can join the network for free at http://www.ascience.eu/. The consortium of the project consists of:

  • Universita' degli Studi di Milano, Biblioteca di Informatica - Italy;
  • Comenius University, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics - Slovakia;
  • Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven - Belgium;
  • Linz University, Institute Integriert Studieren - Austria;
  • Unione Italiana Ciechi (Verona) - Italy;
  • UPMC – Université Pierre et Marie Curie - France.
